greenpower mobility – All-Energy Medium and Heavy-Duty Vehicles Greenpower designs, manufactures and distributes the entire range of medium- and heavy-duty electric vehicles. This includes transit buses and school buses as cargo buses as well as shuttles. EV Star is a zero-emission vehicle that has a high degree of customization. It's also FTA certified and Buy America compliant. It has a class-leading range and ADA wheelchair accessibility. It also has cargo delivery configurations. EV Star GreenPower Motor Company manufactures a complete line of heavy and medium-duty electric vehicles, including models with lower and high floors. Their flagship vehicle is the EV Star Cab & Chassis platform, which is able to accommodate various upfits and bodies for multiple applications. The platform's clean sheet design allows for optimal battery pack placement and lower center of gravity resulting in better payload to range ratios. The EV Star REEFERX is designed to meet the needs of mid-to-last mile refrigerated delivery as well as catering applications. The refrigerated trucks in class 4 have a single interior wall structure, and higher insulation than conventional trucks, allow for seamless sanitation and better temperature control. They also have a longer life span. The EV Star REEFERX provides superior capacity for cargo, and an industry-leading payload to range for zero-emission goods or passenger transportation. GreenPower has partnered with Perrone Robotics to up-fit the EV Star with their TONY (To Navigate You) autonomous vehicle system. This will allow fleets to quickly transition to autonomous vehicles. The AV Star is also capable of wireless charging up to 75 kW. We had the opportunity to test drive the EV9 for several hours on a local freeway and found it to be a breeze to drive and comfortable for long distances. The ride is smooth and smooth over bumps and ruts, while the EV9 is a master of suppressing road noise and wind on the highway. The acceleration of the vehicle is astonishingly quick, and it features adjustable regenerative brakes that allow “one-pedal driving” simply by lifting off the accelerator. The EV9 provides a large range and can be recharged in three hours or less at home, or using any commercial charger. The driver has the option of choosing between two operating modes – eco mode and sport mode. Eco mode focuses on the cruise control and torque while the sport mode is designed to maximize speed and handling. Both are a lot of fun to drive and provide an experience unlike any other for anyone that has not driven an electric vehicle before. In addition to the EV9, GreenPower has several other e-vehicles available, including a multi-purpose all-electric minibus called the EV Star. The EV Star is ADA-compliant and can be used as executive shuttles, transit or microtransit buses, vanpools, or paratransit vehicles. GreenPower produces approximately 10 EV Star buses per month for the Jacksonville Transit Authority. The Jacksonville Transit Authority is replacing their older diesel vehicles fleet with 100 electric cars. With the Biden Administration planning to electrify school buses across the country, GreenPower plans on ramping production to meet demand. Their EV Star bus is the first of its kind to be tested in Altoona and FMVSS-certified, Buy America compliant and ADA compliant. This means they'll be eligible for federal transit assistance grants.
